Gordon McDougall

CEO & Director

CEO and founder of Tezi Advisory, an investment firm specializing in the garment and apparel industry, Gordon McDougall has been instrumental in building sustainable businesses, raising capital and accelerating them to profitable status, for over 30 years.

Capitalizing on the return of apparel manufacturing to the U.S., Gordon’s ability to identify businesses with significant growth potential resulted in the acquisition of Made in America Apparel, Inc., an LA-based, full-service apparel manufacturer. His partnership with Lexi-Luu Designs, makers of young girls’ apparel, has led to a doubling in their revenues every year since 2010. Gordon’s “fashion accelerator” business model, deep industry knowledge, and proven record of launching and sustaining successful businesses, provides him a unique platform to disrupt the trillion-dollar global apparel industry.


Marilu Brassington


Marilu Brassington began her career as an auditor at Deloitte and Touche, where she earned her Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license. Marilu then relocated to France to become Financial Controller for Société Générale, the nation’s second largest bank.

Marilu has been a financial consultant and has developed, managed, and grown two startups which led to the successful sale to publicly listed companies. As partner and CFO, she led a successful acquisition and transition to scale to Interactive Corp (IAC) , a publicly traded conglomerate. Marilu is also the co-founder and CEO of Emotion Apparel, a women’s casual lifestyle clothing. She offers expertise in financial management, in both the private and public sector, and operational management.

Serge Berliawsky


As a business owner, designer and creative director, Serge Berliawsky has more than 12 years of real-world experience in the apparel industry . His extensive background in branding and management includes the design & direction of his own brand, Sahaja, a luxury lifestyle collection launched in 2006 and since carried by Barneys New York, Maxfield, Isetan, L'Eclaireur and Luisa Via Roma. While managing the Sahaja line in 2010-2011, he also worked directly under Serge Azria as a designer for fashion giant Current/Elliott. There, he oversaw the design and development of all categories of clothing, from vintage denim to t-shirts, wovens & outerwear.

Serge further brings to the table years of experience managing contemporary and high-end boutiques, and a history of developing private-label goods for various luxury retailers. He contributes his expertise in branding, marketing and manufacturing apparel to Democratique, as well as a prolific network of manufacturers, suppliers, showrooms, designers, pr firms and business contacts.


Tamy Aberson Sloboda, Ph.D.

President and COO

A recognized leader in organizational change and development, Dr. Tamy Sloboda has held numerous executive leadership positions in the public and private sector. Recently, as co-founder and CEO of a successful dot-com startup, Tamy led in the acquisition and transition-to-scale operations to meet the demands of the acquiring company, Interactive Corp (IAC), a publicly traded conglomerate. Tamy has also provided consulting expertise for companies such as: Walt Disney and Goodwill Industries, as well as public school district. Tamy is also the co-founder of a boutique consulting firm specializing in trademarked, psychometrically validated assessments that measure individual change driver capacity, authentic executive presence, and an organization’s readiness for radical innovation.

Tamy is a professor at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, and holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Organizational Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology.
